Lenox Day Trips
Pittsfield
Pittsfield is a short 15-minute drive from Lenox. Hancock Shaker Village
– a 1,200-acre outdoor history museum – is one of Pittsfield’s
most outstanding attractions. The village features 20 historic buildings
and a working farm. Visitors can try to make traditional Shaker crafts
in the Discovery room, or watch experts in the Shaker workshops. Pittsfield
also boasts the premier museum of western Massachusetts – The Berkshire
Museum. This museum has serious and fun exhibits, including a fine arts
gallery and a children’s Refrigerator Art Gallery. The Berkshire
Museum also has an aquarium, theater, Wacky Vend-O-Mat, and store.
Becket
Becket
is a half-hour’s drive from Lenox. It is famous for Jacob’s
Pillow, an internationally acclaimed center for dance. Jacob’s Pillow
Dance Festival is held annually from June through August. During this
time, audiences can witness incomparable dance performances. In 2001,
Jacob’s Pillow was added to the National Register of Historic Places
for its cultural contributions to America. Becket State Forest, Otis State
Forest, October Mountain State Forest, Buckley Benton Lake, and Yokum
Pond also attract visitors to Becket.
